A great opportunity for some wonderful fresh air, inspiring work and good company. The evolutionary impulse is calling us to reconnect with the natural  world and one another. With wooded trails along a tranquil lake Standing Stone State Park is a great place to do that.

Every 2 years we have the opportunity to effect change politically. By engaging these cycles we capture the energy and catapult ourselves into a world of policy making based on Non-Violence, Social Justice, Ecological Wisdom and Strong Local Economies.

When we come together we tap into our collective intelligence for addressing the issues of our day. And doing it together is so much more fun! The world is malleable - what shall we make?

True power always resides with the people.
Let's have the audacity to wield it.
It starts with a discussion. Will you join us?
Feb. 22-24 Standing Stone State Park.

Green Party of Tennessee Celebrates 10th Anniversary

posted Mar 21, 2011, 2:04 PM by Trish Adams

The Green Party of Tennessee will be celebrating its ten year anniversary at its upcoming state meeting. The meeting will be held April 9-10th at the Ecovillage Training Center at the Farm in Summertown, TN. The meeting is open to all who identify with the 10 key values of the Green Party. There is a suggested registration fee of $10-$20. Camping space, indoor accommodations and meals are available for an additional cost.

At the meeting, the Green Party will elect officers and plan its activities for the coming year. There will be breakout sessions on a variety of topics as well as a Saturday morning nature hike, and a Saturday evening party with an open mike.

Since the Sixth Circuit Court recently declared Tennessee’s ballot access law unconstitutional, the party is working to implement the decision and get our party’s name linked to our candidates on Tennessee ballots. This will be one of the items of discussion at the meeting. For further information on the state meeting please contact either Martin Holsinger or Patricia Adams.

For accommodations at the Inn at the Farm contact Alayne or Jessi at 931-964-4474.

State Party Annual Meeting And Nominating Convention

posted Jan 17, 2010, 11:15 AM by Robert Waltz   [ updated May 3, 2010, 5:54 PM by Martin Pleasant ]

The Green Party of Tennessee will be holding its annual meeting on Saturday, February 20, 2010, in Knoxville, TN. Because this is an election year, the meeting will be followed by the party's nominating convention. All Greens are invited to gather at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria, 200 East Jackson Avenue, in downtown Knoxville. There's no charge to participate, but the Green Party is asking for a goodwill donation to cover the cost of food (a $15 value) and to support the party (priceless). So that they can be sure to order enough food, please contact the Knox County Greens via our contact form:
Contact Us

The business meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. Agenda items will include election of officers, updates on Green Party activities around the state, and changes to the state platform (which has not been substantively updated since 2005). Other agenda items will be entertained at the meeting, but it would help facilitators if you send any ideas ahead of time to us through our web page

Following the business meeting Greens will adjourn for about half an hour and then reconvene at 3:00 p.m. for the nominating convention. Prospective candidates are welcome to make a statement and answer questions of the membership. Following candidate statements, the membership will vote on nominations.

MLK Parade and Potluck

posted Jan 17, 2010, 11:10 AM by Robert Waltz

We wish to invite you and yoursl to two events on Martin Luther King Day this coming Monday, 1/18. The Knoxville Green Party will again participate in the parade with a contingent of walkers and cyclists. The parade will commence, as in the past, from the parking lot just west of the large church on the left side of MLK Boulevard about a mile east of downtown. The parade kicks off at 10AM so we should be there by 9:30AM. There is ample parking on side streets but I think vehicles that are not in the parade would not be allowed in the lot where the parade organizes. The parade route is about 2 miles and ends at roughly 12 noon at the the Greater Warner AME church where there will be a program which everyone should see at least once, always engaging!
Also, United Campus Workers (the UT Union) is hosting a potluck at 5:30PM at the UNITE Building at 1124 North Broadway, about a mile north of downtown on the right. The guest speaker is Brenda Scott, President of the Mississippi Alliance of State Employees.
We hope to see many of you at either or both of these events as we celebrate one of our country's great leaders.

Website Redesign

posted Dec 14, 2009, 8:25 PM by Robert Waltz   [ updated Dec 14, 2009, 9:09 PM ]

The website has undergone several migrations this year.  Our longtime hosting provider, Geocities at Yahoo!, was disabled as Yahoo!  discontinued the Geocities service.

The website was moved to a couple's personal server running in their basement.  However, due to a variety of concerns, the Green Party of Knox County agreed to move the site to Google Sites for hosting.

For its initial release, we have chosen a boilerplate design to display content.  We have a News blog, a Calendar and Documents section as well as some static pages. Though very basic at first, the website will continue to evolve.

Please feel free to email any comments to our administrator.
